It's not sick so much as the successful terminus of the preemptive disinformation campaign engaged in by the very people doing the gassing. Or, more accurately, supporting the people doing the gassing insomuch as it furthers their own agenda..until it doesn;t
At which time, expect Assad to find himself friendless....and the power vacuum will happen anyway..the only difference being all the intervening deaths by gassing and the certain knowledge that every interested and capable power is entirely full of shit when they claim to support people subjected to this kind of nonsense. Hat's off, from a cynical standpoint, to boxing the situation in so that most roads lead to ruin of one sort or another. With the only path to unqualified success hinging on the US (just as one example) not entirely fucking up whatever we try to do by means of our vast and bottomless well of intervention incompetence.
