That's what happens when people can't access assault rifles. It's not like mentally ill people and terrorists are going to be like "oh well, can't get a gun, I guess I'll just be a law abiding citizen. "
We can imagine what Australia would be like with looser gun laws, because at one time they had them. Banning guns there made no difference in the violent crime or murder rate. A fact people like to totally ignore.

Add to that the ingrained gun culture of America and the melting pot of ethnic and economic diversities, I'm not surprised.
In fact, even with your very strict laws, shit still happens daily... Imagine if your laws weren't as strict.
EG, an 18 year old boy here on the news last night was sentenced for several big violent crimes/breakins which were on the news.
He got a suspended sentence of 2 years because he was remorseful...
What message is this giving other potential young kids here in Melbourne?
Our laws certainly need to harden up ... The big winner though is extreme lack of gun availability here...
For every 100 crimes, I'd imagine about 2 or 3 might involve guns...
Having said that, also on the news last night was a story of a break/enter of one of the rare gun shops we still have left here.
Police are pannicing because now there are an extra 60 illegal guns on the market! Shock horror! You guys would laugh at that!
