Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Who knows. If there is a light, it could also be a train coming.

We can only hope that this is an anomaly. It is still very depressing to think that people in a supposedly educated society could be so incredibly ignorant. It blows a hole in my (admitted) faith in the principles of Secular Humanism. I thought we were better than this. Obviously, I was wrong.
Maybe I should better describe myself as a Trans-Humanist. This is the belief that the better of us humans will direct our own evolution through technology. We will better ourselves because obviously, we need bettering. A society that elects Trump as anything more than a Mosquito-control officer is obviously on the wrong path. We need to better ourselves or we deserve extinction.
People thought they were rejecting the establishment, but the problem is they elected someone who was only pretending to be anti-establishment. With the disdain for the establishment though, maybe next time they will elect someone who is actually anti-establishment, like Bernie. It's not all bad. The establishment is on their heels and progressives are beating out neo-liberals in smaller elections left and right. Black people finally stood up against one of the biggest supporters of their mass incarceration by refusing to vote for her, and they showed the power that they really have. The anti-establishment movement will be good in the long run. Trump can only cause so much damage in his 8 years.
