Sure, lots of believers were indoctrinated in some matters. Even so, are you arguing that it's good to apply stereotypes, rather than treat people as individuals? Sure seems that way.
But indoctrination can start when you first become interested and then continue after you convert. I am particularly thinking of my brother here who has become increasingly indoctrinated over the 20 years since he converted.
That's ignoring for the moment the implicit indoctrination we both received at school as part of living in a historically christian culture and to a certain extent our family that for him lay the groundwork for a later conversion.
