She said something along the lines of that everyone sins and because of this that though catholicism thinks engaging in the gay lifestyle is wrong, it's no different than any other sin, or something to that effect.
Yes, I would agree with all that.

Is it possible for their serious sin to become a mortal sin? (mortal sin = a serious sin with full consent of the will and knowledge that you are turning away from God)
....I suppose if a person doesn't think God is real but they commit an act that they know is a very wrong and horrible thing to do, and they choose to do so willingly anyway, they are choosing to turn away from goodness. In doing so, I suppose they are turning away from God in that sense.
This sounds like an awful lot of people are going to heaven.
I'm sure a lot of people go to Heaven, though it is impossible to say what the heaven to hell ratio is... If most people go to Heaven or if most go to hell.
There are plenty of pretty bad people out there, they just dont usually out themselves. So who knows.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
