Do you realize you depend on scientific authority every single time you step out of your house? Every time you take a medication, get behind the wheel of a car, order food at a restaurant, or visit a doctor; everything you are learning in school; you’re relying on scientific authority. How do you explain that?
Is it because of their authority that you rely on those things; or is their authority only good, so long as it accurately reflects reality? For me personally, I look at what different and opposing scientists testify to, what there reasoning is, and how what they conclude follows from the evidence and reasons. It's not a matter of authority.
I doubt you look at "different and opposing scientists", because you'd have to be familiar with the full body of work to know what's what.
Or you go to the University of Youtube.
