1. The smiley should to indicate two levels of meaning, one innocuous and one barbed, like being tickled under the arm with a feather, but it bleeds.


2. Maybe words with some clever inversion. Here's some :-

I don't mean to use the words on that site, but it's the idea.

3. I know a guy who used to fly his hand over the top of his head like an planner, to indicate that the target of his wit just didn't 'get-it', (the meaning had gone over the other's head).

Maybe these ideas will stimulate, to come up with one or two new smileys.
