I've started playing a superheroes roleplaying game. One thing that's become apparent is that it's actually really difficult to come up with a new set of powers. But I managed it! I spent all my points giving a very ordinary human being the power to switch off all other superpowers and electronics within one yard of her. She can switch her powers off at will if she isn't stressed but she doesn't know she has any so they are on by default.
To her electronics are just inherently unreliable and all the superheroes she sees are doing cosplay. Of course it now means that she can't really do much in modern society like watch TV, listen to the radio, even ride in a car. And because I spent all the points on giving her the ability to switch off all the other super powers, psionics, magic and electronics I didn't have any left to spend on any other skills.
She has no skills, no ability to use electronics and no friends.
So I made her a traffic warden.
