Why does the Pope wear such funny clothing?

Don't even get me started on the bullet proof Popemobile. How ridiculous is it when you are in a religious position of authority and you go to see "your people" and you need the security of a bullet proof car?

Not really ridiculous at all.  John Paul II was shot and very nearly killed in the heart of Catholicdom (St Peter's Square) by lunatic Turkish muslim Mehmet Ali Agca. Gandhi was shot and killed by Nathuram Godse, a fellow Hindu.  Anwar Sadat was shot to pieces by fellow Muslims in the middle of Cairo.  Yitzhak Rabin was gunned down on the steps of City Hall in downtown Tel Aviv by - you guessed it - a Jewish assassin.

It seems pretty dangerous to go out among the faithful.  Popemobiles seem like a good idea.

According to the biblical fairy tale Jesus demands that a magic number of believers must be killed before he returns.  Imagine the Pope getting shot and being that magic number.  Doesn't everyone want Jesus to return?  People gotta get killed for their faith = Revelation 6:9-11
