Hmmm, I see unity and hive mentality as a little different. You can be united about a decision for example, but hive mentality suggests that you might not agree necessarily with someone else, but you go along with it so you're part of the group. Or you're agreeing and you don't even know why you're agreeing. I'd say this is why indoctrinating kids at young ages is effective.
