I don't hold out much hope that in the event circumstances leave a vacancy in the Oval Office that a Pence nomination would be any better.
This was the end game all along, I suspect. Refuse to hold confirmation hearings, and if thier guy happens to win, it's likely he's going to be able to seat at least two justices and create a 5 or 6 seat conservative voting bloc, pushing the court solidly to the right for a long time to come.
What happens in 2020 and to some degree 2018 doesn't matter quite as much once you've packed the Court.
