It's funny how he picked someone that has declared Roe v. Wade as being binding. However, this is the guy who believes the president is above the law. He basically got himself a get of a jail free card. I fear there really is nothing to do. Democrats don't have enough sway in D.C. Now there are two Republican women who are pro-choice, but I doubt they would vote against a Republican nomination.

Realistically can anything be done regarding Trumps nomination?
|
Probably not, unless the GOP acquires a spine. Drag out the confirmation hearings and hope Mueller produces something to that end?
TL;DR pretty much no.
The judiciary including SCOTUS is a coequal branch of the other 2 branches of gov't. SCOTUS along with Trump's likely replacement for Justice Kennedy could be held in check by the legislative branch if Congress goes Democratic in November (or in future elections). I'm not holding my breath that will happen in November, though.

I don't hold out much hope that in the event circumstances leave a vacancy in the Oval Office that a Pence nomination would be any better.
This was the end game all along, I suspect. Refuse to hold confirmation hearings, and if thier guy happens to win, it's likely he's going to be able to seat at least two justices and create a 5 or 6 seat conservative voting bloc, pushing the court solidly to the right for a long time to come. What happens in 2020 and to some degree 2018 doesn't matter quite as much once you've packed the Court.
Didn't the trumptards used to talk about a 2d Amendment solution?

Yeah, I didn't really want to go there but there is always voting from the rooftops. That's probably the only solution to a catastrophe. Of course, trying to solve it that way will likely only lead to greater catastrophe. We will simply have to adapt to the USA becoming a more draconian and outmoded country. We must accept that world-leadership will pass from the US to the EU. I hate to see this as a US citizen but it's obvious to me that this country is rapidly going down a shithole. What kind of stupid, ignorant people actually elect Donald Trump as President? After Trump's election and Brexit, I believe the USA and UK have have ceased to be credible world leaders. I hope the EU rises up and takes up the slack. Somebody needs to.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Yeah armed revolution would likely fail resulting in a justification for a government to embrace more draconian measures.
