I'll file this story in the very thin folder of other Canadian mass shootings and place it in the drawer with the fat, multi-volume file of similar cases in the U.S.
Canada doesn't have strict gun control anyway. I don't know where that myth got started. It's got more liberal gun laws and more guns than all of Europe except maybe Switzerland and Norway. They have the same guns per capital as the US.
It's about context. For the most intransigent of 2nd Amendment boosters, anything not as extreme as the NRA's most extreme talking points is unacceptably restrictive. Subtleties like the differences between Canadian policy and policies in other, more restrictive countries are just facts. We can't let anything like subtlety or facts get in the way of a good talking point.
