It does seem intuitive that less guns would reduce homicides, if only because guns are more effective than other weapons. Intuitions are often wrong. You would also have to consider crimes that were thwarted by the use of a gun. Regardless of whether gun laws are or are not effective, the further question is how much personal liberty Americans are willing to trade for government promises to keep us safe and secure.
