I loved the band when they were big, for reasons that should be blindingly obvious for a teenaged boy, but finding out about it, it’s not too surprising. Russia is still depressingly backward socially, and it’s never been a nation to be too tolerant of those whose views differ too much from the norm.
Also, it doesn’t help that the band itself was created more or less as a vehicle for the sexual fantasies of their producer (I’ve even heard that he came up with the idea for the band while watching kiddie porn, but I can’t find much confirmation, especially not in English-language sources, although I do remember reading press releases touting their absurdly active sex life before they came out as straight) As a result, it’s not really that surprising that one of the most famous Russian lesbians (fake though she may be) isn’t that interested in the cause of gay rights.
