Earlier this year, Jerika announced she’ll enter hospice care at the end of the summer, where she’ll refuse medical treatment and go without her ventilator — in effect ensuring her own death.

“A child doesn’t have the capacity to make those types of decisions, and under the eyes of the law, this is a child,” Carrie Ann Lucas, head of Disabled Parents Rights, told the Appleton Post-Crescent.

You can't really understand someone's pain unless you've been in that position. It's bad that a 14 year old has to live like this, but sometimes death really is a mercy. We all kind of hope that everyone gets to live until they're in their 90s, but that just doesn't always happen. What this kid has to go through is no way to live.

I'm not saying she should die.

But I don't know the pain.
It's her choice.
The pain will be gone.
And no one should tell her what to do unless she has no reason to do it.
But she does.
So let her live her life as she can. If she wants to die (and even her parents don't mind, but not in a bad way) then who am I to judge?

She is only human and wants the pain to go.

I didn't get that vibe...although I imagine the churchie fucks won't be far behind with all their 'god's will' horseshit.

This sounds more like those groups who think that disabilities are "ennobling."  They may be but there is a difference between being deaf and being in constant agony.  This kid sounds far more rational than those interfering assholes.
