My late mother was a mostly lifetime voting republican, and I think most here know how much I love her and still miss her. But on issues of economics and politics, she drove me crazy, because she would agree on 99% of what we talked about, but shut down when I asked her, "If you agree with me, then why do you still vote for that party?".
I will give her credit though, she did put her foot down with Trump. She voted for McCain and Romney, didn't like Hillary, but voted for Bernie.
It shocked the shit out of me. But I lean to thinking that some of my arguments got to her.
Several months ago, I was in a dollar store, standing behind a lady that said she was a teacher, buying supplies for her students. I could tell she was a republican when she gave me a dirty look when I said, "That shouldn't come out of your personal paycheck, the tax payers should be paying for it."
