I have this liberal redneck friend in Oklahoma, born in religion, loves his conservative parents, like I love my mother, but hates the social and economic views, he is now an atheist. I have this argument with him all the time.
On social issues currently democrats are on the right side of history, he gets that. I love him on that. But I do get tired of his argument "we have to compromise". I agree, there is no economic left, just a slightly right of center left on economics. It got that way when we gave up after Reagan busted the air traffic control unions. Since then the GOP has controlled the narrative by shouts of cold war commie, if you dared question wealth. Since then, our politicians on the left do too much bending over to try and claim we can be like the GOP.
