I can see that a little, but I think that it is more that he is just less political, diplomatic and PC then is perhaps desired. 

Nope but those are lame excuses 

He doesn’t always think before he speaks, and certainly doesn’t think about the prooftexters, who are going to try and twist everything he says.

He's expressive of his true beliefs and no we don't need to twist his words what he says says it all .
