Oh if I had a nickel, I tell you what I'd do, I'd spend it all on candy, and give it all to you.

A nickel's worth of candy!? Pssh, you can't get two pieces of salt water taffy (shudder) for that bit of change these days. I DO recall that in the '60s one could buy candy like a Snickers bar for a nickel, and 6 for a quarter. But then any quarter was a rare coin specimen for me.

It's a very old song. My mother used to sing it to me. It probably dates to her childhood.
