Yes. And the statute of limitations should be extended in situations like this. These assailants used the social stature of their place within a religious hierarchy to commit and cover up assaults against minors. The nature of the crimes demands a focused, unfettered investigation, and harsh punishment for those found guilty of committing them.

This shit is widespread, and isn't going to go away until there's actual penalties for bad behavior. Priests, especially, due to the soft power of their social status/reach/influence, need to be held to a higher standard. Any standard at all would be a good first step.
