Why do theist often drop the letter s when referring to atheists?

To be fair, atheist is a tricky word to spell if you're not familiar with it.  The e and the i can flip around pretty easily.  In general though, pointing out someone's grammar/spelling is generally an irrelevant, sometimes dickish move, unless it's genuinely hindering the communication of ideas/points.

Oh I am a fucking savage and I will admit it. I won't do it on the internet (autocorrect is a real bitch) but for two reasons 1) I helped a past employer because it was their business page and an obvious mistake (accept vs except) that could hurt their business so I messaged them and just said hey just fyi you meant accept, by saying except you are saying you don't take it. They thanked me and that was it. 2) If they call someone stupid, a retard, dumb, uneducated, etc while they have even one grammar/spelling issue I just lay into them. You aren't going to call someone stupid by saying "your stupid" and get away with it around me.

My sister and I will correct my mom and other sister's grammar all. the. time. Mostly cause it pisses them off lol We've both been called a grammar Nazi on more than one occasion. I accept it.

So similar to saying “gawd”, “jeebus”, and adding “tards” as a suffix to everyone you don’t agree with.  Or does that expand it not its own special category of assholishness?  Just curious?

Also, what you think you hear, seems different than typing it out.

Unless it's the early 2000's and spelling things like dawg, gawd, kewl, wut, etc are popular and you switch it from the Copperas Cove Bulldogs to The Dawgs and then spend $80k for rights to that name and still have it in 2018 and paid again to keep it another 10 years. Just in case ya can't let go of an era and want the entire state to think your school district is a bunch of illiterate morons. Then you aren't an asshole right? Right? Oh wait no you are still an asshole. Sorry /end rant.
