Given that his investigation still seems to have a lot of work left to do, I doubt he would even move that soon. But then, if midterms don't go well for Democrats, Kavanaugh's confirmation comes due, and Trump turns toward replacement of Jeff Sessions, there may be incentive for taking actions sooner rather than later.
If that's true - that Mueller is timing release of information for poilitical purposes - don't you find that disturbing?
No, I don't. First of all, I would reject your characterization of it as political and merely call it strategic. The justice system in this country is adversarial in nature. If the special prosecutor feels that a crime has been committed, it his duty to present those charges in the best light possible. In that he is acting no differently than a lawyer who selects jury members who will be favorably disposed to his case. Moreover, the special prosecutor is specifically assigned because of a potential conflict of interest between the normal prosecutorial mechanisms and a just result. If a conflict of interest exists in congress regarding prosecution of charges against Trump, then Mueller is simply doing his job by navigating those conflicts of interest. So, I reject your characterization of it as political. Even if my speculations are true, he is not doing it to obtain political advantage, but rather in the interests of justice. Furthermore, my general inclination is that Mueller will release the information when he's good and ready to do so, and that likely won't come until after the midterms and Kavanaugh's confirmation. Given Mueller's history as a Republican, I find concerns about his politicizing the investigation somewhat laughable. What I think concerns you is that Mueller might succeed in getting Trump impeached.
