No, you don't need to be "friends" with all parents, but you do need to be acquaintances with everyone within your child's social circle, and sometimes you'll have to bear that cost to keep your child happy and safe.
though honesty is good and all, personally I feel it's not always wise to be absolutely honest about your political or religious views especially when it might cause problems for someone other than yourself. Religious freaks are especially dangerous and should be avoided from the start but if that's not possible, I'd be upfront but would still try to keep religion out of things, like telling this woman that I simply don't like memes and selfies and all these new gen crap, so I'd prefer if she stopped sending those. Or you can try another approach of mentioning how you find it funny when adults pretend to be teens by sending memes, while you both are present in a group setting, she should get the hint.
