I got in a good study session of subrings today. In particular, after watching the Star Trek TNG episode "the wounded", I gained more insight into the proof of the initial theorem of the chapter: I previously overlooked the fact that the two operations on a ring are binary operations, which allowed me to make sense of the author's particular conclusion in a sentence that I had been previously analyzing with no success.
Also, jumping into subrings gave me more insight and imagination to complete the last part of an exercise that I had been working in the previous section on rings. The exercise asked the reader to show that every element in the set of integers modulo n, denoted as {0,1,2,...,n-1}, is either a unit or a zero divisor.
