You can look at every feeling, though, judgement, and meaning in your life as illusory, or you can look at it as real.
It's your choice how to perceive it, but it exists. Love is love.
Why does there have to be a God to lend reality to the universe? The universe operates how it operates. Evolution operates the way it operates, and has produced a complex range of emotions in humans. Those emotions drive our decisions, and are part of how we experience life.
Some may personify Love as a god, or a principle of the universe, or the purpose for life. There doesn't have to be a deity behind love, nor does there need to be some Platonic perfect "Love" that all other forms of love are mere shadows. Love exists as a motivating force, both for good, and sometimes for ill. You can worship it if you like, but it makes more sense to experience it. Appreciate it.
The purpose of our brains is to experience, and to make choices that benefit our survival and well-being. Love is an experience, that is just as real as seeing the sunrise. All we have are our experiences, so what isn't real about them? What properties of a deity would make them any more "real"?
