I must disagree. I think that is one of the most reliable of the hippy quotes.

It's not that there is some mystical force which insures bad guys get their comeuppance. It's simple probabilities. The more often you play with fire, the greater the likelihood that you will get burned. What goes around DOES come around eventually.

The hippies may not have got it right from a mathematical probabilities standpoint but they lucked out on the truth. Be an asshole and it probably WILL come around and bite you in the ass. Probabilities favor it.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
