Campaign ad: senior citizens mock millennials

The way CNN reported the ad, my impression was that it was designed to irritate young people into going out and voting. Sort of like a reverse psychology thing:

Old people: "You young people won't get out and vote. You're all too lazy."

Young people: "Oh yeah? Well, we'll show you how wrong you are!"

And then all the young people get out and vote because they don't like old people telling them what they can or can't do.

Yeah. I mean that’s completely obvious, isn’t it?

Not everyone gets sarcasm, even when it's dripping. I think those old people were doing just that.
