Put the cover on the air conditioner unit outside.
Tidy up the yard, protect vulnerable plants with burlap, and get rid of as many leaves as possible before it snows.
Make sure I have a snow shovel and a container of traction sand in the garage and at the front door.
Switch the clothes in my closet to the winter ones, and put away the warm-weather stuff.
Put the electric blanket on my bed.
Consider adding even more lights to my front porch display before the stores run out of good ones, and before it's too cold to work out there.
Stock up on hand cream, because my skin gets really dry in the wintertime.
Snow tires are nice - but they sound like tractor tires on dry pavement - and they wear out quickly.
We have a set of snows on a spare set of rims - and I hold off mounting them on our third car - til the snow flies. My SO drives every day (I don't) so she can switch cars depending on the need - due to road conditions.
The snow tires are in their 4th season - and probably have only a few hundred miles on them.
