Would that be the Wrenboys? They still go out on St. Stephens Day in some parts of Ireland, especially Kerry. Though they no longer kill the wee wren.
Right so. I grew up on a farm near Ballymena, and when I was a kid, we still did the whole dead bird thing, but it was dying out even then. Still remember the song, though.
