I lived in Pt Reyes Station in the mid 1980's.
One guy I knew called it " Shake and bake".
Gallows humor... Gotta love it.
Had a friend who got me into motorcycles in the late 1970's who told me about something called "the Sunday morning ride" that went up that way. I wonder if you used to be part of that too? I never was but I did buy that friend's rebuilt Triumph Trident. Amazingly fast in its day. I don't ride any more though, just too lazy I suppose (plus I sold my last bike).
Did you ever eat at the Stationhouse in Pt Reyes Station? We used to go out to eat there with my father in law after his wife died and he moved into senior housing in his early 90's. Of course I can't be sure it existed back in the 80's. Pretty country up that way.

Those burnt areas are going to experience floods and mudslides if they aren't reseeded to get at least some sort of watershed before the wet winter we are hearing about arrives in a couple months. What a mess.
I hadn't heard anything about an especially wet winter, el nino year? That will be hard on them for sure.
I would be nice to get a lot of steady rain anyhow.
