This isn't the only instance. It's been a recurring problem this year...but....yeah, there is no excuse for -anyone- to get sick from food sold in this country. Our entire processing model is designed to prevent it, it's the pride of the entire earth (everyone mimics our shit)..and it works. Only..though, when producers follow blisteringly easy procedures.
Similarly, every store in america could just toss out all the lettuce..but they don't. They reckon that the sales will cover the liability.
Think about it this way..if the food you made gave someone a stomach ache..no hospitalization, no confirmed instances of some specific issue...you'd throw away all the shit in your fridge and bleach your kitchen. Not so with our processors, resellers, and retailers. They're willing to make people sick if it might cost more to prevent it. So what if it's somebodies kid..that they're trying to feed a healthy diet. There's .0000000000004cents to be made!
