As for what I would create for my next life, it would be a sort of Heaven for me and my loved ones where we were all happy together. I wouldn't want an afterlife without them. They define life for me. I don't think that would change "after."
Good thoughts! Would/could such enduring souls congregate in the supposed afterlife or would we live on in solitary?
If the latter, it's already hell. If the former, life would lose a lot of its pain.
