The Khmer Rouge, in the name of atheism, destroyed a third of the country's monasteries, destroyed religious texts, and specifically targeted monks for extermination.
Similarly it happened in China as part of the "Cultural Revolution". In their zeal for atheism, the Red Guards destroyed a lot of religious sites, even desecrating the Cemetery of Confucius.
In the Soviet Union, the League of Militant Atheists killed clerics and destroyed religious buildings.
Typically, whenever there is a collectivist revolution of the Marxist kind, the first people to be targeted by the atheist regime are the clergy.
Teh evil atheists are responsible for all that, yet 911 wasn't religiously motivated?
Or any of the various terrorist attacks in the past decades, I suppose?
What about the Crusades? The Inquisition? Withch burnings? Pogroms against the Jews that ultimately culminated in the Holocaust?
9/11 was an inside job. Check out the documentary Loose Change.
Yes, the Crusades and the Inquisition were examples of religious violence, specifically Christian violence, but they pale in comparison in both scope and proportion to what the statist atheist authoritarian regimes (Soviet Union, North Korea, Maoist China, Khmer Rouge, Ho Chi Minh, etc.) inflicted upon religious groups in modern times. In fact, the state atheist regimes' atrocities against religion continue till this day in both China and North Korea.
The Holocaust had nothing to do with religion. The motivation for exterminating Jews and others was not Christianity but a non-religious collectivist ideology called Nazism.
And both Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia severely persecuted the peaceful Jehovah's Witnesses.
