I was near the end of my first (12 month-long) overseas tour with the USAF in South Korea. It ended the way it started - with such wonderful decadence.
I had no idea how much my first experience outside the US would grow me. I was just a different person after that year. Some of the growth was in the right direction but much of it wasn't.
Looking back, that experience convinced me that the human lifespan is a tragedy. We need WAY more time to get our shit together and figure out who we are. At least I do.
I was reflecting last night about how many countries I'd spent NYE in. Came up to fourteen. My private yacht club really came through for me.
