People absolutely believed the buzzfeed report, which made references to emails that supposedly corroborated their story. We haven't seen those emails, and have no idea of what they say or even if they exist. The level of faith that people had in the buzzfeed report was somewhat like the faith that mormons have in the existence of the golden plates that the book of mormon was supposedly copied from.I must disagree as the story of the golden plates is quite a bit less mundane then the existence of emails regarding foreign intervention . But indeed the Mueller affair is of note though again he only said inaccurate not untrue .
Of course, we don't know how inaccurate the buzzfeed report is. We only know that it was at least inaccurate enough to make Mueller feel the need to speak up.
I'm not sure why you would be lenient with unsubstantiated mundane beliefs. Evidence for the mundane abounds. Tell me that you have golden plates (a mundane claim) and I will want to see them. Tell me that there are damning emails, and I want to see them.
