Not because I hope it happens, but because I'm not going to submit to someone's criminal behavior. If you're willing to, no prob. Understood. But that's not me.
Ah great. Reminds me of the many stories I've seen too many times on the news, "Veteran killed attempting to thwart bank robbery." Sad that you think that way man. But I've seen people, even some with training, freeze up. You say it's not about ego, but it is; this is evidenced by the fact that you say you're not going to "give in". You clearly have a chip on you're shoulder and a point to prove. Problem is... You're not going to teach anyone a lesson. Period. Probably just piss the guy off and get yourself or someone you love killed trying to be some kind of "teacher." What a joke.
Why give in? I have no chip on my shoulder, and as I said from the beginning, I hope it never happens to either of us. But to assume I should respond just like you is unfair. I honestly would not kneel to someone and submit to their demands. If you choose to because you think it's safer, that's your choice, but I already said that as well. I know myself well enough to know I'm not someone who "freezes up." Maybe better if I was, but it's not me any day of the week. When there is a challenge, I press in. That is me. Truth is, if someone just came to me and said, "Hey, I'm struggling and need some $$$", then that's probably all they need to do. No guns. Just let me know I can help. But if they try to force my hand, then the rules go out the window.
Many veterans stop those robberies. Any time a weapon is involved things can go sour. But why do you think they try regardless of the result? When you can figure that out, you'll understand.
