My Plan To Re-open The US Government

As I understand it, Trump wants $5.7 billion to fund part of his Wall. The Democrats, however, are insisting that the Government must be re-opened, and border security negotiated at a later time.

At this point, Trump has to realize - on some level  - that the Wall is primarily a vanity project, more of a monument to himself than a legitimate means of addressing border issues.

Here's the plan:  The Democrats still don't fund the Wall, but agree to use the $5.7 billion for other security measures.  To get Trump to go along, they allocate another $5.7 billion to build a gigantic, gold-plated statue of Trump in the middle of New York City.  They promise to make it at least 20% taller than any statue in existence, and guarantee 100% of the concession proceeds to Trump personally.

Presented with this offer (given Trump's greed and narcissism), he'll forget all about the stupid fucking Wall and re-open the government in half a minute.

45 and the GOP love to claim to be physical conservatives, but so far just in 33 days, has the potential to cost tax payers 6 billion so far. Pretty sure that is a larger number.

Part of this was his own vanity in his fear and bigot based attacks during his run yes. But, I think this is simply also just another attempt to distract from the Mueller investigation. Caravans, NFL players, attacks on the free press.
