Actually Brian37. I king of think Yonadav is referencing GC (GodChosen) and their comment of skepticism towards said cosmic events.
Hence the kudos to both of you.
Cheers.
Damn, you people trip over yourselves. I challenged Brian to take it a little beyond the television show that he watched. One of the problems with Pop Science is that it sometimes presents information as an established fact that isn't established fact. There is some skepticism concerning the existence of black holes, and that skepticism is of an entirely scientific nature. We have never directly observed a black hole, and there are alternative explanations for what we have observed.
I am not saying that there are no black holes. I love the black hole concept. It's fascinating. Black holes are sexy. But a more complete worldview about black holes does entail the knowledge that they might not actually be a real thing. Even the wikipedia article about black holes talks about alternative understandings for what we have observed.
People around here feel this need to be like a hundred percent for or against things, and you constantly assassinate your own imaginations when you do that.
Bullshit.
If you want crappy media, try Fucks News.
When you have major scientists on the show itself, pretty damned sure they are not going to risk their credibility by partaking in junk.
Now again, I am not against human rights, so in that respect, if you wanted to go around claiming every day, "The Saints are going to the Super Bowl this year". As long as you are not violent, I wont have you arrested, but the truth would still be that they are not.
I am not against human rights. But if our species never questioned social norms, our species never would have left the caves. I see nothing wrong with saying, "That was then, this is now", and that is all I am doing here.
Humans make up god claims, and mostly get sold those claims from birth prior to formulating adult critical thinking skills.
I see everything right about the willingness to scrap old claims in favor of better data.
