Why garden and not whole world?

I mean seriously, it seems that humans actually advanced when they got out of the garden and got to live in the whole wide world.

Garden was like a prison, especially since all the animals, including dinosaurs, were crammed inside because it seems that the rest of the world was an unlivable desert, because why otherwise would they be limited to the garden? And also it says in Bible that there was no vegetation on Earth except in the garden.

 I didn't know that about the rest of the world. But then I went to a Catholic school. They didn't like us reading the bible, lest we misunderstood. I kid you not.

I finally did read our family Jerusalem  ( approved Catholic ) bible at 16, being fed up with being told I should not. Don't remember that bit though. Of course  it, it WAS over 50 years ago.
