Would holding formal gatherings to discuss atheist ideas create something "religious" in character (such as weekly church attendance) if these meetings were focused around discussing the disbelief in god(s)?
I personally have been a little reluctant towards formalized meetings to discuss "atheism", however I would be interested to hear what other peoples thoughts are.
What exactly are atheist ideas? I know of meetings where atheists gather to meet like minded people, but I don’t think they sit around discussing atheism. I would even guess they’d be more likely to discuss theism, as there’s at least something there to discuss. I don’t think atheism can become a religion because there’s no one cause or idea or set of beliefs among atheists. We don’t believe in any gods but we also don’t hold anything that we do believe in common with all other atheists.
