we had economics classes and first aid classes that explain enough for you to be an army medic...
but we also had Peanut butter and jelly, trophies for winners only, P.E. eg dodge ball, kick ball foot ball king of the hill ect.. teacher that would beat your ass for being what most kids now are taught to be today. wood shop with a shop teacher missing at least 4 fingers between both hands. Mandatory showers after PE locker room hazing (tape a kid up head to toe with duct tape) only his junk hanging out and dump him off infront of the girls locker room. You could also smoke in school as well as chew tobacco, bring knives (under 10" lock folding knife to be carried in the pocket or on the belt only) I even brought a shot gun (got permission) to get welded up in my welding class.. had hunting rifles in the truck in the parking lot, and we had bad ass teachers.. One shop teacher broke up a fight got stabbed/cut deep and did not report the student, got stitched up and then told the kid it was him(teacher) and billy bad ass after school.. (billy did not have to show, but did) and the old WWII vet laid him out cold two quick jabs and a upper cut out of no where. crazy respect for the old man.. We asked what would happen if billy brough his knife back the old man said he would have been stupid to bring a knife to a gun fight... he didn't show us the gun but from then on we assumed the old man was carrying.
FIX the Deballing of the alpha male in school, and "we" will fix the rest.
Planed/programed 'critical thinking' is anything but critical thinking.
I think.. we should identify those with the proclivity to think independently and work with those people to develop their own critical thought processes/ otherwise what you will have is a bunch of people who only accept 'thought' that is processed a specific way. or in other words you train people to only identify with and accept specific propaganda pieces that are sourced or come prepackaged a different way. why? because critical thought true critical thought is not something taught but something augmented, feed and nurtured.
meaning one has to have the natural inclination to first think objectively on their own. you can't teach independence objectivity by definition. meaning anything you teach will be your thoughts your propaganda and not one's own ability to generate and work out independent thought..
Ever wonder why we have so much difficult communicating at times? it is the difference between critical thinking and regulated/taught thought processes. You look for ideas and information to be vetted through a specific educational process rather than look at the information provided and for yourself determine or vett the information provided. rather you look at the package or the messenger rather than the message. So it is true with most 'modern critical thinkers.' Which is why so many of your peers spend so much time trying to destroy the character of someone who brings and idea you do not like, verses addressing content.
I do however agree that something should be done in the way of fostering those who in fact have the ability/inclination to think critically for far too often they have to figure it all out on their own.
