I was talking about this sort of thing with a friend the other day.  Two people had posted pics of new(ish) kids in their families and I was struggling to find something to say.

It was decided that well-fed wasn't quite right for the little boy though he certainly appeared to be.  I saw not much else to comment on in a way I could spin into something positive.

If the other kid's eyes had been closer together I am pretty sure she would have been a cyclops.  When I should have been thinking of a pleasant comment I, instead, was wondering if they can make glasses with lenses that close together.  

Yep - going to hell in every faith.  

I hate those pics...if you have a homely kid at least put them in a cute outfit so I can comment on that.

Back when the family newspaper used to carry a column by "Dear Abby", the best response I ever saw was, "You must be so proud!", notwithstanding that that 7 pounds of fresh-hamburger-looking being was in no way appealing. Now, my newborn sons were the epitome of handsome, and you will never convince me otherwise. 

Note to self - remember that one.
