El Paso Shooting (Yes, Again)

Any attempt to restrict the sale of firearms to people who clearly shouldn't have them is a clear violation of the constitutionally protected right to shoot people in the face.

Bill Clinton banned assault weapons in 1994; mass shootings dropped by 43%.

Bush and the GOP let the ban expire in 2004; they went up over 230%.

Those figures directly contradict FBI statistics which show the MAJORITY of mass shootings are with handguns - not " asssault weapons".

Furthermore the ban never affected the ability for anyone to purchase an " assault weapon" - effectively all it did was eliminate flash hiders and bayonette lugs. ( I must have missed the news stories on the rash of drive- by bayonettings that inspired that idiocy)

The other outcome was to cause panic buying before the ban went into effect - and drive prices up. It also solidified the market for " black rifles" which are now much more available AT LOWER PRICES.
