Fun fact: If a theist wants to know why atheists are atheists, just ask.
The one I've been hearing is that it's just sour grapes from bad things that have happened in my life that I don't want to take responsibility for. That, and of course the old excuse-to-sin standby.
The reply I gave a very drunken Christian who came up with these was that if I wanted bad things in my life to happen, I'd just take up drinking to excess. The person retorted that it was "wrong", but she could "ask for forgiveness", and it was sure to be granted every time. I looked a couple of times, and said, "It sounds like you've got an escape from responsibility there, as well as a ready-made excuse to sin! Me, I've got to take responsibilities for things - like damaging my health, reputation, legal issues with drinking and driving, the cost of it, and on and on. When you defy your own beliefs against drunkenness to this extent, it's not a very good 'advertisement' for what Christianity gets you. Me - I value having control over my mind too much to turn it over to alcohol or Christianity." Then, turned to it having to do with Christians (in my family) doing something horrible to me in Christ's name, and tried to console me for that. (Huh???)
It's just grasping at straws, and doesn't make for a very appealing alternative to what I (don't) believe. I've just become convinced that these "sinning, but (constantly) forgiven" so-called Christians don't believe in the Bible, in Jesus, in their Church any more than I do!

You just keep your head on straight. Fuck those shitty bitches.
Ah, but when they visit Planned Parenthood for abortion services, they'll be forgiven for the "sin" of killing their baby because they ask. However, either refraining from fornicating which is listed as a sin never crossed their minds, besides, they were forgiven.
Now they've got a platform from which to sob at the abortion rallies about how those awful people at PP convinced them that they "had to" have an abortion, forced them to, lied to them to allow it, and use this to show how terrible they are.
That, or they will stand by their convictions to not "murder their baby", have a baby when they're 16 or so, without an education, without job skills, but use the taxpayer's money abusing systems that are in place as a safety net for people to whom bad, unforeseen things happen. They just use them from day one - in a sort-of premeditated way.
