I'm fed up with hearing the tired old chestnut, 'Human beings are only worth a few pounds of chemicals,' followed by some ridiculous figure like $20 or £5.
A single human being, properly processed, is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars - meat, hide, transplantable organs, etc. If you've got a large family, and aren't squeamish or emotionally involved, you're sitting on a fucking gold mine.
