I am not appealing to my beliefs whatsoever, so I don't know why you bring that up. The parasitical relationship applies to a lot of human dependancies... I still don't understand how you can reason justly ending a persons life on it.

The end result of your argument is that you are sentencing any woman who is unlucky during sex to a minimum of 18 years hard labor raising this "person" to adulthood. And, if she fails to do an acceptable job and the kid dies there are people who will want her thrown in jail for failing at a job which, if it weren't for sanctimonious twats insisting she have the kid in the first place, she knew from the beginning she was not ready to handle.

If its own mother does not want it where is my interest? There is a simple solution to the problem which does not impact you in any way. What gives you the right to stick your nose into someone else's business?

That's my biggest problem right there. This age old debate is really not about the life itself, it's really about religion. Basically it's the, "when does god issue a person his or her soul?" argument. Conception? After all if your zygote dies, aren't you going to want to go see it in heaven?? It's the same old fear of death bull shit that gave us the slavery of heaven and the eternal damnation of hell!

Is that a religious argument? I thought it was a scientific one. The scientific understanding is certainly all I base my opinion on.

There is the potential for a person, but not a person.

My take on the whole thing... I personally would probably never want to see my child aborted, but let a woman (or couple) do what they want and leave her the fuck alone!

I don't disagree with any of that.

I do not believe a fetus at 1 week is the same as a fetus at 9 months. Somewhere between is the grey area where you can't be totally sure whether you are killing something which is truly alive/aware.

That's the ethical argument for the humane killing of animals.
