Christmas happens to fall on Wotans Day this year. Deep..deep irony to be had. Hung on a tree, pierced by a spear, a sacrifice to himself - for the benefit of all mankind..to bring the power and magic of the word into this world, in preparation for ragnarok.
I wouldn't argue it like that. Problem with this argument is that when you say "atheistic" to a Christian, they hear " Didn't believe in my specific god."
As an atheist myself, I also don't believe in the gods many months or days are named after. But I do agree, there is lots of hypocrisy in the fundy Christian insisting everything in life, is about Jesus.
If everything were about Jesus in life, then the days of the week then the days would be named
"SunJes"
"MonJes"
"TuesJes"
"WedJes"
"ThursJes"
"Frijes
"SatJes"
DAMN IT, now I've given them ideas.
