It was a good thing that this intended massacre was stopped before more people were killed by these armed churchgoers. Sometimes a good person with a gun can make a difference, sometimes even if they don't fire a shot. The church security volunteers did a good job, followed their training, and to my mind, are heroes.
A 'good guy with a gun' who saves the day isn't mythical, just rare and very risky. A CWP requires training, I think most who have one would be aware of the risks, such as cops mistaking them for the shooter when they arrive on the scene; presumably they laid down their arms as soon as the threat was neutralized.
I don't have a problem with people who have proper training and certification carrying concealed weapons where they're allowed.
