Even if the Russian economy isn't quite good; their weapon manufacturing is great, if the alliance with China is going well you get a union of superpowers. Ironically; just in the era where the suns of both China and Putin's Russia shined, Trump came to office to hand them an easy victory over his own country.
Believe me on this: empires collapse and fall very fast, and what was built over the decades can be lost in a mere year, especially when a behemoth like the Chinese economy haunts your ass and a thug like Trump rules you.
